In deepest appreciation to Charlie Radford for making dreams come true......
On a cold February day in Spokane, my husband and I flew the coop to Texas to board a cruise ship for warmer climates. Upon turning in our rental car prior to boarding, we happened upon a couple....Charlie and JoAnn Radford, doing the same thing. As we traveled to the docks and stood in line for what could have been hours, we struck up a conversation and friendship with these great people from Kansas, which made time feel nonexistant. Our friends liked to experience the same adventures as we did, so we danced, ate, rented scooters to cruise the islands, fed iguanas, drank monkey lalas and experienced all type of other warm weather fun together. Later in the year, they came to visit us and through conversation, I learned that Charlie was really into building small mechanical "stuff." (He has built his own ultra light airplane!) I had dreamt of making moving dolls, but alas, had not a clue how to make that happen. So I showed him a picture of an automated doll I had found in a magazine, and voila...he went home and made it for me! How cool is that? So it was now my job to build a doll around it and I prceeded with great enthusiasm. Upon searching for a name, I typed in serendipity in my thesaurus and up popped the word "Kismet." Perfect.... the dictionary defines Kismet as a chance meeting....and so it was. Believing in your dreams, does indeed make them come true....the universe will always provide. So thank you Charlie Radford for helping make my dreams come true and for being in the universe at the same time and place as we were....you too, Jo Ann!!! Below are photos of my automatons.
